I bought the edited version off this website that was going out of business last year. I have never watched it, but was so intrigued by the title. I ended up watching it over the weekend.
This story is supposedly a take on how the play "Romeo and Juliet" was written. The movie was good, don't get me wrong, but I do not agree at all.

Someone as intelligent as Shakespeare would have never been so stupid as to think Romeo and Juliet is a classic love story. I believe he wrote everything with a deeper meaning behind it. His lines are carefully chosen and there is always a moral at the end. What he really meant is... two stupid young teenagers who think they can fall in love that fast (after meeting once) and end up killing themselves is just to show the world that we need to be careful with the emotions that we have. Infatuation is a very dangerous thing. I think he was making fun of young people who take life WAY too seriously for their age. This is what I think. I believe Shakespeare would agree.
*Agree*
ReplyDeleteSaw it back in 2002ish... All I can remember about that movie is sappiness and Gwyneth Paltrow.
